No Kings Rally

Boston has been chosen by national organizers as one of the flagship sites for the October 18 No Kings call to save democracy. BVOCAL has been invited to sing on the main stage! The current plan is to lead the crowd in singing “That’s America” and “First Amendment” (more and more relevant everyday). With possible collaborations with drummers and/or the Good Trouble Brass Band, we’ll be ready to make some good noise. We may also sing an additional song to support a theatrical piece by Boston’s Creative Resistance Team.

BVOCAL has also been invited to lead singing at the SEIU 509 statewide membership meeting on October 18. This represents a huge step forward in our mission of reviving a singing tradition across social justice movements. Every union meeting, even one focused on the business of bylaws and elections, should have singing!

You can SIGN UP NOW for one or both October 18 actions. Best is if you can do both :). The SEIU action will take place between 10:30 and 11:30am at the Park Plaza hotel in downtown Boston. Then we’ll have time for a short break (the union will provide us with a room to hang out in) before walking just a few blocks to Boston Common for No Kings where we will likely sing between 12:30 and 1:30pm.
